"In therapy, I believe in the power of collaboration and valuing your expertise as the authority on your unique life experiences."
Chelsea Cooks offers clients a warm, welcoming place to explore who they are, what they have lived through, and what they want to reclaim. Chelsea believes in the power of collaboration and values each client as the authority on their own life experiences. Her therapy space is designed to feel curious, accessible, nonjudgmental, and respectful of the many identities clients carry.
Chelsea is passionate about helping people who are navigating life transitions, mental health challenges, relationship changes, and identity exploration. She works to help clients process life changes, cultivate new habits, regain balance, and reconnect with joy. Her voice is compassionate and grounded in the belief that healing can take many forms and that genuine connection is central to the counseling process.
Who I Work With
- Clients exploring identity development, life transitions, self-understanding, and personal growth
- BIPOC clients and clients from marginalized communities seeking culturally sensitive therapy
- LGBTQIA+ clients seeking an affirming and inclusive counseling space
- People navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum-related concerns, addictions, or major life changes
- Neurodivergent adolescents and clients who want support that recognizes their unique needs and experiences
- Individuals hoping to improve their relationships with themselves and others
My Approach to Therapy
Chelsea utilizes Adlerian, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered, solution-focused, and existential concepts to support clients in reaching their goals. Her approach is flexible and collaborative. Rather than placing clients into a rigid model, she uses curiosity and careful listening to understand their unique needs, values, identities, and hopes for therapy.
Chelsea’s commitment to inclusive and culturally sensitive therapy is central to her work. She acknowledges intersecting identities and lived experiences, including the ways culture, community, race, sexuality, gender, neurodivergence, and social context can shape mental health. She is committed to social justice advocacy and to creating a space where clients feel understood rather than judged or minimized.
Her clinical interests include identity development, life transitions, anxiety, depression, the autism spectrum, ADHD, and addictions. She also brings experience from mentoring programs, empowerment workshops, life transition work, and support with neurodivergent adolescents. Chelsea uses warmth, vulnerability, and sometimes humor to help build genuine therapeutic relationships where clients can feel valued and seen.
What Clients Can Expect
Clients can expect Chelsea to approach therapy with openness, respect, and collaboration. She works with clients to explore life events, understand patterns, and make the changes needed to move toward their goals. This exploration can be difficult, but Chelsea believes it can also be essential to understanding oneself.
In sessions, clients may process emotions, reflect on identity, practice new habits, strengthen relationships, and examine what balance and joy could look like in their lives. Chelsea’s style is compassionate, inviting, and affirming, with a focus on helping clients feel understood while also supporting meaningful action.
