Esther Kim offers clients a collaborative, affirming space to better understand themselves with curiosity and compassion. Esther views healing as a practice that shifts the focus away from fixing and toward self-understanding and growth. She approaches therapy as a fellow human and collaborator, valuing connectedness as a healing tool to oneself, others, and community.

Esther honors the many layers of identity and lived experience through an intersectional lens. She actively acknowledges cultural context and systemic factors, and she welcomes all aspects of a client’s identity, experience, and personal process. Her space is LGBTQIA+, kink, non-monogamy, and poly-affirming, as well as sex-positive.

Who I Work With

  • Clients seeking identity exploration therapy, self-understanding, and support around existential concerns
  • LGBTQIA+, kink, non-monogamy, poly, and sex-positive clients seeking affirming counseling
  • People exploring culture, sexuality, spirituality, alt or expansive identities, structures, and spaces
  • Clients processing ancestral trauma, life transitions, self-compassion, or parts of themselves that have felt unheard or unseen
  • Individuals who appreciate therapy that is collaborative, creative, relational, and responsive to their process

My Approach to Therapy

Esther draws from existential, narrative, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) concepts within a relational-cultural and trauma-informed framework. She values a mutual, co-creative process of building trust and understanding. Her approach is not about forcing one path; it is about discovering, together, what supports the client’s healing and growth.

Esther also uses mind-body-spirit and somatic methods to help clients tune into messages from their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies. She understands honest introspection and self-compassion as necessary parts of healing. By communing with ourselves, clients may begin to give voice to parts that have long felt unheard or unseen.

When requested, Esther incorporates dream work and projective tools such as symbols, imagery, and cards to support self-reflection. Although these approaches inform her practice, she centers ongoing collaboration and adapts therapy to the client’s needs. She welcomes the ebbs and flows of therapy, understanding that the process is not always linear.

What Clients Can Expect

Clients can expect Esther to bring empathy, compassionate accountability, curiosity, and sometimes shared laughter into the therapy relationship. She values trust and connection, and she works with clients in a way that respects where they are while making room for deeper reflection and growth.

Therapy with Esther may involve exploring values, identity, cultural context, spirituality, sexuality, creativity, grief, trauma, or questions about meaning. She believes everyone deserves to pursue joy, wholeness, and empowerment from a place of curiosity and nonjudgment, and she hopes clients gain insight and tools to navigate their own unique path.

Background and Personal Details

Esther’s interests include drawing, meditation, tarot, and befriending cats. She also has an art background and enjoys incorporating creative and expressive work with clients when it fits their preferences and goals.

Her personal and professional style reflects her respect for creativity, curiosity, identity, and the many ways people make meaning. She supports clients in finding language, insight, and practices that help them feel more connected to themselves and their communities. Esther’s work also leaves room for complexity; clients do not have to arrive with one clear problem or one simple identity.
